I get this question a lot. “Can I take probiotics while I am pregnant?” My answer is “Only if you want to have an amazing pregnancy -the richest breast milk possible and the healthiest baby ever.”
Remember that probiotics are the very stuff that makes breast milk so valuable to a baby. They are the safest and most valuable substance that will ever enter a human body. The reason that we have to take them is because we are the 1st generation to have had them taken from our body by antibiotics if we received them in the 1st place.
Secondarily–since we are on the subject. Did your mother have antibiotics while she was pregnant with you? If so do you still think you have never had antibiotics? How about immediately after birth–before or while she was nursing you if she nursed you at all. Not being nursed is the same as having had a lot of antibiotics.
Let’s go back even further—did she ever have antibiotics prior to having you. If she did it killed her good bacteria and she can only give what she’s got. So just because you were breast fed doesn’t mean you got your full allotment of the good stuff.
We are now on the 3-4th generation of this negative health slide since post World War 2 which is when they started handing out antibiotics like candy and this has us in a downward spiral.
So yes—if you are pregnant take some antibiotics for the both you.
