Iberogast, also known
as STW 5, is a prokinetic liquid formulation of nine herbs used for
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and dyspepsia in Europe and Canada. A proprietary blend of natural herbs, it was developed in Germany in 1961
and is available (without prescription) in other countries. Named after the
genus (Iberis)
of one of its ingredients, it has been the subject of several clinical
studies on its affect on the stomach and the small intestine.
It has been shown to ease symptoms of dyspepsia (abnominal pain, bloating, and nausea) by
